Sunday I had a good day-trip to Cologne, Germany.
I know, it's not a very popular destination, and I admit my ignorance in not knowing virtually nothing of this beautiful German town, but when you find an offer for a Ryanair flight 20 EUR round trip is hard to resist, and eventually would you go in Afghanistan: p
We cut his head right away to the bull: Cologne (Cologne or in francesce / English, or Köln in German) it is a beautiful city.
Do not be fooled by the photos a bit 'gloomy that I made (the weather was not very forgiving), Cologne is actually a very colorful and vibrant city.
There is much to see in Cologne, and in addition to the many museums (I obviously missed for lack of time), there are plenty of points of interest that make the trip to Cologne a truly rewarding.
But let's order (cit.)
How to get from the airport to the city center of Cologne.
Get downtown from the airport of Cologne (called Flughafen Köln-Bonn) is a very simple and cheap.
Take the S13 train (every 20 minutes), and in fifteen minutes you will be at Cologne Central Station (Köln-Bonn Flughafen), which precisely is in the city center.
The ticket price for the single fare is € 2.8 ... more than fair I would say.
From Central Station, walk will arrive at the Cathedral of Cologne (Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria), which is something really gigantic, one of the most beautiful churches / cathedrals and impressive in the world.
From the center of the colony then you can decide what to see.
Points of interests there are so many, I have seen:
Old Town, Antoniterkirche, Römerturm, Hanenhaus Statue Tünnes und Schäl, Minoritenkirche, Eigelstein Torburg, Quatermarkt, Rheinauhafen, Sankt Maria im Kapitol, Basilika Sankt Ursula, Rathausplatz, Frankenwerft, Heinzelmännchenbrunnen, Alter Markt, Kolumba, Sankt Gereon, Glockengasse (Cologne ), Heumarkt, Groß Sankt Martin, City Hall in Cologne, Innenstadt, Hohenzollern Bridge, and other places that I can not remember ...
Ok, the names will probably say nothing, watch some random photos:
By the way, I almost forgot ...
How to turn in Cologne?
In Cologne turns by public transport.
Cologne is in fact very supplied level of public transport: there is the metro, trams, buses.
You can make single ticket if you want to just move, or the card is 8.50 EUR daily (12:50 if you do it for 5 persons).
Let's say that in any case for most of the things to see could also decide not to take the means, since they are all in the center. Cologne will run well on foot, in fact.
A visit that deserves to be made is also the one to the Botanical Gardens (Botanischer Garten-Flora).
Close to the zoo and completely free.
In theory I should also climb on KölnTriangle skyscraper, which offers a wonderful view in a quiet area, but unfortunately it started to rain just as I was to go up and I gave up.
Primarily because the visibility was really low, then because the viewing platform on the top floor of the skyscraper was outdoors: p
The last two things I've seen in the colony were the park Stadtwald Park Koln, an immense park of which I have only seen a small piece for lack of time, and the outdoor Melaten Friedhof cemetery, a special cemetery wrapped in the green (where them just because I could unfortunately turn was about to close).
We then talk about the Hohenzollern Bridge?
In itself beautiful, was decorated by hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of colored padlocks ... very special (even considered the strange sculpture at its center).
However, despite the problems of my camera (I was not longer movies than 5 seconds), I also had the opportunity to do some videos:

That's all!
Cologne for me it was really a nice surprise, pity about the weather a bit 'iffy.
To be honest, however, two things I have not liked a lot of Cologne:
Too many beggars in front of churches and on the streets (it's never a good sign)
The fact that on Sunday all shops were closed
Apart from these details, it was really a nice trip and I have to say that a whole day in Cologne it was enough to see pretty much all I wanted to see (I arrived at 8 am and was leaving at 22 pm).
Obviously if you are people from museums a day is not enough, huh.
I leave you with the photo album ... 300 pictures is enough? : p
