Saturday I went for a day trip to Berlin.
Visit Berlin in one day is obviously impossible, but for a brief taste of the German capital, I would say that a day is enough.
I chose Berlin as a new destination for the weekend because I got a great deal with Ryanair, only 37 Euros for a cheap flight there and back seems like a great deal, even if it's just one day.
How to get from Schoenefeld airport to the city center
We landed in the middle all'aeroposto Berlin Schoenefeld morning, not far from the city.
From there the options were two: either the airport express train and by 3.30 euro in 30 minutes takes you to the city (trains RE7 or RB14) or by subway, which puts us a little bit more (40 minutes), but you It lets you use your day ticket means (7.60 euro a day pass for zones a, B, C, more than enough to see the whole city).
We therefore opted for the subway (s-bahn company), who with s9 s45 lines or take you to the city center.
We took the subway to s9 then change to s7 and then down to the height of the Oberbaum bridge, a picturesque bridge at the famous East Side Galley, the part of the Berlin wall painted with murals of all kinds.
After a short snack street, we headed underground to Alexanderplatz, another famous landmark in Berlin, where there were stalls.
In the same area there, there was the television tower (Television tower) and a little further from the St. Nicholas neighborhood and the Berlin Cathedral.
Continuing on foot to the south we then saw the Gendarmenmarkt and the famous Checkpoint Charlie, a major roadblock that during the Cold War the Soviet linking Berlin to the American one (if I am not mistaken is also seen in the film The bridge of the spies).
A couple of metro stops and here was taken at the memorial and to Hitler's Bunker, or rather the parking lot that is now built in its place.
It is strange to find a monument honoring the victims of Nazi persecution just a few meters from where it was built the bunker from where Hitler spent his last 10 days.
Continuing on foot, we reach the beautiful Brandenburg Gate, where he was being a demonstration against the president of Iran to the sound of pillow fight.
And always in the area there, there was the Berlin Parliament, near which we have seen, in the gigantic Tiergarten park, a memorial fountain in memory of Gypsies killed by the Nazis.
From a distance, we also saw the Victory Column (Siegessaule) and Berlin's central station, and then make a trip even to the palace of tears (Tränenpalast), now something of a memorial museum, was once the building where the inhabitants of west Berlin were making all the safety checks before returning to East Berlin ... it was difficult to live in Berlin before the fall of the wall: p
Now that it was late, we then took the metro S7 to Friedrichstrasse, then change to s9 again and get there in time to catch the plane of 18 to Italy.

What about Berlin?
As I said at the beginning of the post, turn Berlin into the day is an understatement, but it is an idea of its potential.
I know that Berlin is a city for the young and is full of local and attractions, and above all is not dark and gloomy as I imagined, but if you think back to the city I have seen recently, Berlin is cute but nothing more.
Degustibus short :)
