Hong Kong 2014 Trip

Last leg of my trip in August 2014: Hong Kong!

Hong Kong 2014

Hong Kong is a city that has always affascinanto me.
I do not know exactly how many movies have been filmed in Hong Kong, China's Hollywood, but what is certain is that Hong Kong is a really beautiful city.

When in 2012 I was in China, for lack of time I had to skip Hong Kong, but then, fortunately, after two years, I could fill this serious gap :)

My vacation in Hong Kong lasted only five days, but were 5 very intense days, exploited to the bone just to be able to see as many sights as possible.

First day

The first day in Hong Kong, I visited the following places: The Avenue of Stars, Victoria Harbor, Wong Tai Sin Temple, Chi Lin Nunnery, Nan Lian Garden.

The Avenue of Stars is the way of the stars of Chinese cinema, where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Victoria Harbor.

E 'in this way that there is the statue of the legendary Bruce Lee.

Beautiful to look at are of course also: Wong Tai Sin Temple, Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden.

Second day

Another busy day: Hong Kong Park, Old Wan Chai, Tin Hau Temple, Victoria Park, Man Mo Temple, Soho, The Peak, Star Ferry.

In theory we wanted to take the famous peak tram to climb to the top, but that is over there we made the walk ... that grueling :)

In the evening, the place to go back across the bay to the subway, we decided to take a ferry to try the experience of a beautiful scenic journey.
Just that we thought naively that all bring ferry across the bay and instead we ended up on another island: p
Never mind, I had a beautiful scenic ride on the cheap little, although at first we were a bit 'scared because we did not know where he was going the ship on which we climbed :)

Third day

The third day we were able to see: Aberdeen, Kowloon Walled City Park, Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, Temple Street Night Market.

On this day I've actually made a couple of logistical errors.

The first error concerns the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, where, before finding it ended in an uphill cemetery where some statues of Buddha made us believe, at first, to have arrived at their destination: p

The second error instead is even more embarrassing and almost unbelievable.
Having seen years ago the movie Bloodsport, with Van Damme, I remembered the existence of a Hong Kong district made of narrow and dark alleys so as to be frightening.
Kowloon Walled City is, indeed was, a neighborhood where the houses were so crowded together as to create a real labyrinth.
So without much investigation, before we left, I added on the navigator this goal, not making even if the name I had saved on the phone: Kowloon Walled City Park.
The fact is that once in place, we begin to look but do not find any dark alley.
Instead we end up in a park, where seeing a kind of model, finally understand ...

Hong Kong kowloon

The famous Kowloon Walled City no longer exists!
In its place is rather a park and a memorial museum.
But is not that no longer exists since last year, it has not existed since 1994!
Whereas we went to look for it in 2014 ... well, we had a nice gaffe looking for a place demolished 20 years before: D
If you want to deepen, below find a video that explains the history of the Kowloon Walled City:

Fourth day

The fourth day in Hong Kong take the boat and take a trip out to Macao (or Macau).
The beauty of these two cities is that you can visit both without a visa, the only inconvenience is that the outward and return you need to fill the usual input sheets.
So if you go to Macau, put in mind of having to lose half an hour to complete all the paperwork.

The city of Macau is famous for its casinos, is basically the Las Vegas Chinese.
Macau is fully endorsable walk in the day, but of course, if you wanted to visit it deeply, we should have more time available.

In my tour I saw Macau:
Senado Square, St. Paul's Church, Mount Strong, Church San Domenico, Lou Kau Mansion, St. Joseph Church, Mandarin House, Na Tcha Temple, Grand Lisboa Casino Lisboa Casino.

The trip to Macau was very tiring but satisfying.
Beyond the casinos, Macau is really a beautiful town with an interesting old town and really quaint alleyways.
He does, however, reflect see so many bars on the windows, even in very high floors and plants. Even the air conditioners are trapped ... I know that in Macau have some problems with theft: p

Fifth day

The last day in Hong Kong I have spent in the beautiful Lantau Island.
Easily reached with the means from Hong Kong, Lantau Island offers several attractions, including:
Tai O village, Ngong Ping Village, Po Lin Monastery, Giant Buddah.

I 'just in Lantau Island, and more specifically in Tai O Village, I could watch a spectacular battle between a cat and a mantis.

The finally last night, we went across the bay to look at the light show called A Symphony of Lights.

The Hong Kong vacation is over, you go back to Italy.
In these 34-day trip I really saw many nice post, starting from Singapore, ending in the Philippines, and finally arriving in bustling Hong Kong.

Hong Kong I loved as a city, because, like Singapore, has many completely free attractions.
In five days in Hong Kong I have really seen a lot of things, but it would take even more days to visit it better ... maybe one day I will be back :)

Below are all the photos I took in Hong Kong, enjoy!
