Bayonne is a town of about 46,000 inhabitants situated in the south of France.
Just 28 km from the border with Spain, Bayonne is part of the Basque region of Labourd, and his name is Baiona in Basque.

It is said to have been invented in Bayone the bayonet, or the blade attached to the rifle that lets you turn them if necessary even in an edged weapon.
It appears that during a war the citizens of Bayonne, short of ammunition, in order to keep fighting have hooked knives to guns ... but however, it seems that there are no reliable historical evidence to confirm that this is the real origin bayonet.

Bayonet or not, Bayonne is a beautiful town and especially of France, proud of its baschità ... at least as I understand it from the guide, where if it says that the Basque region is considered almost a thing apart from the rest of France.

From Lyon (read my post on Lyon) is a moment when you take the plane ... anything but speech if you want to get there by train, in which case the round is much longer and perhaps you also have to make a detour of Paris.

The time I found in Bayonne was not the best, but that did not stop me anyway to do some beautiful photography.

From Bayonne I then took the train to make a day-trip to Saint Jean Pied de Port, a very nice town to visit, from which the pilgrims who compete in the Road to Santiago.

Finally, since I can not sit still in one place, always by train, from Bayonne I went to Biarritz, a popular seaside resort.
Very dear to my standards, still worth the visit for the day.
