China (4/10): Xian

Tags

Xian is the fourth leg of my amazing trip to China.
The exact name of the city would be Xi'an, but for convenience the ever write like Xian :)

Cina (4/10): Xian

The journey to get from Pingyao to Xian (read my post on Pingyao) was really exhausting.
The night train without bunk, with hard benches for 3 people in a row was a monstrous inconvenience.
For me it was impossible to sleep sitting up so tight, partly because there was also a bit 'of baccato in the wagon.
But if we see each other on the bright side: I saw how stuff poor Chinese peasants: p
Among other every 5 minutes, until around midnight, they passed continuously hawkers who were real presentations from teleshopping, with crowds and demonstrations of the product practices.

Arrived exhausted at 6 am, in no time we come to our hostel, where, however, we discover that the room will be ready only after 12 ...
In Xian we'll just 2 days, so we have no time to lose and, in malinquore, we decide to give them their bags and go now to make the first trip: the Terracotta Army.

The ersercito terra cotta is a few hours of bus from Xian and definitely worth the ticket price.
Accidentally discovered by a farmer, this army of terracotta soldiers as big as real people was built specifically to serve in the afterlife the first Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang Di (260 B.C. - 210 BC).
What can I say, very nice and charming, just wish as it is in the dark, unless you have a good camera pictures are not good: p

Maybe go to Xian just to see the terracotta army is excessive (although it is now, along with the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City, one of China's symbols), but for Xian luck is not just that.
There are also other attractions to visit in the city, including: the big goose pagoda, the drum tower, the bell tower and the interesting Muslim quarter.
